What is IslamicDate.Today?
IslamicDate.Today is a reference platform for Islamic calendar systems and Hijri date data.
The project publishes Islamic date information in machine-readable and human-readable forms, including datasets, definitions, and documentation related to the Hijri calendar and Islamic date representation.
The purpose of IslamicDate.Today is to provide:
- Standardized Islamic date data
- Clear and stable definitions of Islamic calendar concepts
- Documented methodology for date determination
- Reference material for users, developers, and researchers
Islamic dates are based on the Hijri calendar, which is a lunar calendar used throughout the Islamic world for religious and historical purposes. Because the Hijri calendar is lunar, Islamic dates do not align with the seasons of the Gregorian calendar and shift earlier each year.
IslamicDate.Today documents and publishes Islamic date information in a consistent and transparent manner for reference and informational purposes. The platform does not issue religious rulings and does not replace official religious or governmental authorities.
Technical documentation and datasets for this project are published openly and can be accessed via the project’s public documentation repository.
IslamicDate.Today publishes its datasets and technical documentation openly on GitHub.
